Can't Open Dmg File Mac Mojave
580/3026
Hi mrtn87,
welcome to Discussions!
/System/Library/CoreServices/ BOMArchiveHelper.app opens .zip files,
and
/System/Library/CoreServices/ DiskImageMounter.app opens the .dmg files.
If you have OnyX, you can try running the 'Reset LaunchServices Database' and 'Reset links between documents and applications' tasks, see if the problem disappears.
Here is a Terminal command you can try if you don't have OnyX (or one of the usual utilities):
/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/
Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister
-kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
Let us know.
Axl

But, you can still open them up and take a look. You can’t open DMG files directly in Windows, though. For that, you’ll need a third-party tool. Open DMG Files in Windows By Using 7-Zip or DMG Extractor. There are a lot of different tools you can use to extract DMG files in Windows. Our two favorites are 7-Zip and DMG Extractor. In our testing, we found a few DMG files that would open with one of those apps but not the. Considering the ongoing necessity to view DMG files, we have described a manual process to let the users understand how to open & view DMG files. Else, users can take the help of a reliable third-party tool named as DMG Viewer. It is the best application that helps to read.dmg files in Windows OS. Users can use any approach as per their choice. A file with the DMG file extension is an Apple Disk Image file, or sometimes called a Mac OS X Disk Image file, which is basically a digital reconstruction of a physical disc. For this reason, a DMG is often the file format used to store compressed software installers instead of having to use a physical disc. Try using Disk Utility by dragging the damaged DMG file onto its window, click the file and select “Repair Disk” in the First Aid tab. You could also try the free utility Disk Drill, recommended in such cases. – harrymc Apr 2 at 17:04 1 Answer 1 1.
